With the rise of electric dirt bikes over the past few years…you are probably wondering who are the best electric dirt bike brands and companies?
I have wondered the same thing.
I personally wish that the larger more known dirt bike manufactures would make a solid electric dirt bike. Even if they are few, the trends are rising and there are more and more companies who specialize in this area of designing highly engineered electrical dirt bikes that can make their loyal customers happy.

Before we go further into finding the best electric dirt bike brands, we first look into the known major dirt bike manufacturers.
Who are the major dirt bike manufacturers?
The below dirt bike companies are known as the big 5. These famous brands are:
- Honda
- Suzuki
- Kawasaki
- Yamaha
- KTM / Husqvarna
If you are into dirt biking I am sure that you have heard of other dirt bike brands as well
but….
The big 5 are the most well known.
In fact it was only a few years ago that KTM actually joined as a major player here in the US.
So, which of the big 5 dirt bike brands make an electric dirt bike?
- KTM
KTM is the only one of the crew that has produced an electric dirt bike.
Best Electric Dirt Bike Brands in the world
The list is short, but we will discuss the best electric dirt bikes from known brands and we will go into more detail of what makes them the best.

KTM, with their KTM Freeride E-XC electric dirt bike.
The KTM Freeride E-XC is what I would call a hybrid electric dirt bike….
This “hybrid” is a mix between a trials bike and an enduro bike.
The KTM Freeride has a smaller frame which results in lower seat height.
I want to mention that there are other electric dirt bike brands but they are not nearly as popular and have only been around for a few years when compared to the big 5 brands.

THE ONLY company to mass-produce an electric motocross dirt bike is a company called Alta Motors
Alta Motors
Sadly…
They closed their doors and all of their technology was bought up by a company that has no plans on producing an electric dirt bike.
Alta Motors actually made a full framed motocross style electric dirt bike.
In fact it was good enough that they used one to compete in the Red Bull straight rhythm.
You can also see lots of freestyle dirt bike riders on Alta Motor’s electric bikes.
Now there is ONE last brand that I want to mention.
They don’t really make what I would call a true electric dirt bike

However….
You can ride one of there electric bikes on the dirt.
That electric dirt bike brand is called Zero
Zero with their ZERO FX Electric Dirt Bike
The Zero FX electric dirt bike is more for on road travels with a few dirt roads inbetween.
I would say 80% road and 20% dirt
You can still ride it in the dirt and I would love to get my hands on a ZERO FX that I can get dirty.
Zero FX electric bike is more of a enduro type of a bike.
If you are like me…. you’re probably wondering why other major dirt bike brands haven’t jumped into the electric dirt bike pool?
Well….from my point of view electric motorcycles are still pretty new, especially when it comes to the dirt bike world.
There are a ton of dirt bike riders that ride single track which means they can put 60-70 miles in one ride.
Electric dirt bikes don’t have that kind of range yet.
Electric dirt bikes right now make more sense in the supercross or motocross world.
Maybe we are starting to see the shift…
This type of electric dirt bike is for slower more technical single track riding.
What about electric motocross dirt bikes?
Keep in mind that so far nobody makes a full size electric motocross dirt bike.
KTM
KTM has released that they will be offering a kids/youth electric motocross bike.
Honda
Honda is the only company that has teased a full size electric Motocross bike
So, who makes the best electric dirt bike or who is the best electric dirt bike brand?
Our choice would have to go to the KTM brand. They have huge winning experience in every aspect of the dirt bike categories and they are already winning the electric dirt bike race with their KTM Freeride E-XC electric dirt bike.
Could this be the beginning of the rise of dirt bike brands building more electric bikes? Experienced riders are starting to notice the differences between electrical motorcycle vs gas powered one and the benefits of the electric engine.
Only time will tell.
